Luxor one day private

On a private day tour to Luxor, you'll get to know the City of Palaces, the former city of the pharaohs. Nowhere in Egypt are witnesses to a glorious past as densely packed as here. As a small village called Wasset, Luxor's history stretches back to 2000 BC. Huge temples and immaculate works of art still bear witness to the grandeur and power of ancient Thebes, the magnificent capital of a bygone empire—both a cultural and economic center.

Luxor excursion to the Valley of the Kings

After crossing the Nile from east to west, you find yourself in the Valley of the Kings. Queen Hatshepsut, who reigned for almost a generation, chose a truly beautiful site for her terraced temple—a masterpiece of its time.

Day trip from Hurghada to Luxor

The fairytale Colossi of Memnon are carved into the mountain massif above the Valley of the Kings. The natural colors of the various wall paintings and reliefs, created 3,000 years ago, are still visible and can be admired for yourself.

Luxor day trip

The day trip to Luxor also includes a visit to the Temple of Karnak. Karnak Temple is by far the largest temple complex in Egypt and the most important place of worship from the pharaonic era. It took over 2,000 years to build. The ram statues, also known as the Avenue of Sphinxes, line up for your viewing. After the first pylon, you'll find the Hypostyle Hall in the vestibule with its 134 columns with relief fittings. Passing standing obelisks, you reach the sanctuary. Next to it is the Sacred Lake, which was used for the ritual ablutions of the priests and for temple utensils.

Book a private day tour to Luxor and discover the cultural treasures of Luxor with your private Egyptologist guide.

Here, on the densely populated country road, you'll pass many small and large towns and experience the true, simple life of Egypt.
  • Karnak Temple: Now we've arrived in Luxor (the world's largest open-air museum), and you begin your Luxor excursion. After a short refreshment break, you'll visit the Karnak Temple, which is by far the largest temple complex in Egypt and the most important place of worship from the Pharaonic period.
  • LunchThe bus takes you to Thebes West, where you will enjoy a typical local lunch.
  • Valley of the KingsAfter lunch, explore the world-famous Valley of the Kings with an interior tour of the royal tombs.

The tour's majestic sights were very well organized with a tour guide who possessed extensive knowledge. The tour operator, Europa Reisen, was extremely helpful and professional in fulfilling our wishes. A very special thank you goes to Memo, our tour guide, who was very helpful and answered all of our questions. We look forward to returning to Egypt and our next tour with Berliner Reisen.

It was a fantastic day, and our guide, Gada, provided us with a wealth of information and details about the history and culture of the temples and tombs in ancient Egypt. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to experience Egyptian history in more depth—Gada is the guide.

Alexander Gesierich

I was pleasantly surprised when I met Gada, our guide. She was competent, punctual, reliable, and looked after us like a caring mother. Overall, the trip was worth it. High praise for Gada.

Dominik Rang

A great tour of Luxor, and our guide was an archaeologist who explained the history fantastically. It's worth booking this as you can see the main sights in Luxor in one day with a private guided tour.

Emely Kammann

It was a very pleasant day, as they kindly told us about the history and the buildings. They were also very friendly and made my trip worry-free. Thank you very much.

Pascal Steinert

I would definitely recommend a private day tour to Luxor with a private Egyptologist. You'll have everything private and with full flexibility. Thank you very much.

Daniel Schmitke

Ragab was an incredibly good guide. She explained everything very well and was able to answer every question – absolutely every question – extremely well. Highly recommended.

Celine Sanchezdias

Gada was a brilliant guide—she was happy and patient with us all day, made sure we stayed hydrated and safe, and took us to a wonderful place for lunch. I asked dozens of random little questions, and Gada was equally eager to answer them all. We learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Our driver was absolutely lovely, and we felt very safe as he drove us around Luxor. Highly recommended!

Lisa Maria Baron

Very good service and attention, the only detail is that they could improve communication, the tour included lunch and they did not notify us

Zannick Boegler

A good experience. The attitude was very good throughout the entire process, the car was very comfortable, and the air conditioning was sufficient. There were no additional guided meals, very nice!

Martine Ingold

I was impressed by the expertise and care that the guide and driver showed us, it was great

Great trip to Luxor. We, a family with two children (12 and 10), were picked up by our two drivers almost on time at 4:50. There wasn't much to see until the first break two hours later, so we were able to catch up on some sleep. Later on in the journey, one of our drivers between Qena and Luxor told us a lot about rural life in this region. Thanks to the early pick-up time, we arrived at Karnak Temple before most of the other tourists. There we met our excellent German-speaking tour guide, Kalaf, and were able to leisurely view the most beautiful and interesting parts of the temple. Afterwards, at Kalaf's suggestion, we went to an early lunch at a restaurant on the banks of the Nile in Luxor. This suited us perfectly, as we hadn't had much of a breakfast. The location of the buffet restaurant right on the Nile was fantastic. Our boat for the Nile cruise picked us up right at the restaurant and, after a short ride, took us to the other side of the Nile, where our driver was already waiting. On the way to the Valley of the Kings, we made a quick photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon and reached the Valley of the Kings while most of the tourists were still having lunch. Since Calaf wasn't allowed to give explanations inside the tombs, he explained everything to us in the air-conditioned entrance building to the Valley of the Kings using vivid photos and gave us recommendations on which tombs to visit. Afterwards, we were able to look at the almost deserted tombs in peace. Finally, on Calaf's recommendation and at our request, instead of the Hatsheput Temple, we went to the ruins of an old workers' village with a small temple featuring beautiful wall paintings. We were the only guests there. About our tour guide, Calaf: He is simply fantastic; his stories are so exciting and interesting that even our children listened attentively and retained a lot of his stories. Before becoming a tour guide, he was a professor of Egyptology. As such, he explains many fascinating details about the meanings of hieroglyphs, the Egyptian gods, and where they can still be found in our language today. The lecture was always interesting and focused on the essential points without being overloaded with the names of gods and pharaohs. Overall, I highly recommend asking for Kalaf as your tour guide when booking through Europa Reisen. Our two drivers brought us safely back to the hotel and, on the way back, got us some cold drinks and chips for the kids.

Very well-organized trip to Luxor – the booking process was quick and easy, and communication via WhatsApp was excellent. Our driver, Michael, was the best! The journey was fast but safe, and the journey with him was also a pleasant part of the trip. Our guide, Nazar, is an Egyptologist – not only told us about the history but also explained many interesting details. Very knowledgeable tour guides who happily answered all of my husband's questions. Highly recommended!

Organizing and making everything possible at reasonable prices – that’s what we do here. We were in Luxor yesterday on a privately guided tour. The driver of the modern car spoke English, and the city guide, who is a trained Egyptologist, spoke German. Quick arrival, no waiting times. Nile cruise with a fruit platter, different tombs, more beautiful than those on the hotel tours. The country and life are explained. I now know what my name looks like in Egyptian sign language. 😅We were able to decide for ourselves what we wanted to see. The Karnak Temple and the Avenue of the Sphinxes left a huge impression. The price is always cheaper than with other providers. 💰I can also recommend the Hurghada city tour, horseback riding, quad biking, and swimming in Sharm el Naga. Thank you, Europa Reisen Hurghada! You are a gem in Hurghada tourism.

Steffen Malinski

Everything was great and exactly as described! It was a fantastic day!

Helga Bauer

A wonderfully successful private excursion. We were picked up from our hotel on time, and our driver took us safely and quickly to Luxor, with breaks along the way. He told us a lot about the Bedouin village and the city of Quina as we drove through, allowing us to see everyday Egyptian life. Our guide met us in Luxor; he was a very friendly and experienced person who was happy to listen to everything and who planned the day according to our wishes. First, we went on the East Nile to the Karnak Temple, then we took a 30-minute boat trip on the Nile to West Thebes, where we visited a lovely restaurant and had a delicious local lunch. After that, we went to the Valley of the Kings, where we visited three tombs, and then to Deir el-Shelvit, a wonderful alternative to the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut. All in all, a fantastic excursion with insights into various Wonders of the World.

Daniela Schafer

Thank you again for the superbly organized trip. From the contact via WhatsApp to the drivers and our on-site guide. A perfect day, a great tour, and everything was on time. So we've booked another snorkeling trip today.

Martina Meier

We really enjoyed the trip to Luxor. There were four of us. Everything was very easy and competent. The guide was very accommodating and explained everything very well. We would definitely do it again!

Picked up on time. Very attentive staff (thanks to Ahmed, who accompanied us everywhere). Very well organized and well explained. We had a wonderful day.

This was our first time booking with Berliner Reisen. We were very pleased with our tour guide, who was not only very knowledgeable but also spoke excellent German. We highly recommend our tour guide. The day trip to Luxor was absolutely worth it.
