Elgouna lies approximately 22 kilometers north of Hurghada, directly on the Red Sea. Egyptian entrepreneur Samih Sawiris laid the foundation stone for this resort in 1989. Your English-speaking tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in a private, comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. We then drive to El Gouna.
Once we arrive in El Gouna, we take a stroll along the promenade at the marina. Admire the magnificent boats and yachts.
At Marina Elgouna there are larger hotels such as Three Corners Ocean View as well as smaller hotels such as Mosaique, Ali Pasha and Captain Inn.

In the center of El Gouna (downtown), with its various restaurants and shops, you'll have plenty of time to stroll or stop in a lovely café for an Egyptian tea.

A very competent, friendly tour guide (Karem) helped me learn a lot about the country and its people. He speaks excellent German. The itinerary could be customized. Save yourself the shopping in Hurghada with its fixed prices (three times as expensive as the one next door to Verwandeln); the "drop-off" companies here seem to be earning good commissions. El Gouna is a nice little town; perhaps a little more time for strolling would have been nice. Our time there was quite short.

Our trip to El Gouna was an interesting experience. The guide led us through El Gouna, including to the observation tower, where we had a view of the entire city. It was quite impressive when we then took the boat trip across the lagoon. El Gouna has beautiful architecture and a unique infrastructure. It had a Caribbean feel to it. Maybe we'll go again sometime.
