Dendera and Abydos day trip
The history of the site began in the predynastic period. Dendera was the seat of the sixth nome of Upper Egypt, and the local goddess was Hathor. Until excavations began, the temple was half submerged in desert sand. Among other things, we will see the sacred lake, an ancient Egyptian temple. It is a rectangular, walled, artistic body of water with an access staircase. Every priest had to bathe in the lake at sunrise before being allowed to enter the temple. We will also see the Mammisi (birth house). After visiting Dendera, we will drive to Abydos, where we will relax and have lunch in a lovely restaurant. After our lunch break, we will continue our expedition and visit Abydos and all its sights.
Excursion to Abydos Temple
The Mortuary Temple of Seti is an archaeological site on the west bank of the Nile. The site was an important necropolis in the country. Until the end of the 1st Dynasty, servants and followers who served the rulers in the afterlife were buried in Abydos alongside the pharaohs. The Mortuary Temple of Seti I is located in Abydos. Here in Abydos we will see, among other things, the Chapel of Amun, the Royal Gallery and the remains of walled wells. Marvel at the very well-preserved reliefs, colors, images and symbols of the hieroglyphs in the Abydos Temple, which are clearly and precisely carved into the stone. The god Osiris was worshipped in Abydos. Learn a lot of interesting information about the Dendera Temple and Abydos from your tour guide. After the impressive tour, we begin our journey back to Hurghada, where we will see you off at your hotel with fantastic memories.

We booked a trip to Abydos and Dendera. Everything went smoothly. We were picked up from the hotel promptly at 5:00 AM and didn't have to worry about anything. The driver, Wahed, was very pleasant and safe! On the way, we met the Egyptologist Ibo. During the car ride, Ibo told us a bit about the history of Egypt from the First to the Twentieth Dynasty, which was very interesting. Once we arrived in Abydos, we drove another two or three kilometers to the temple. The Seti I Temple doesn't look so spectacular from the outside, but the inside is breathtakingly beautiful. The reliefs and colors are so well preserved in some places that we could only marvel at them. Ibo explained the gods and facts to us so well that it didn't get boring! We continued on to Dendera to the Harthor Temple, also very impressive! Some of the reliefs in this temple have been destroyed, but it doesn't lose any of its beauty. The traces of contemporary history are visible and thought-provoking! Both temples are worth seeing and not overcrowded. We'll be back! Thanks to Ahmed, who organized the trip for us and was very welcoming!

This was our first time booking with Berliner Reisen (and certainly not the last). The day trip to the temples of Abydos and Dendera is a bit strenuous, but it's well worth it. Everything went smoothly: punctual pickup, two very well-preserved temples, and beautiful wall frescoes. Lunch and drinks were included. A fantastic day trip. I highly recommend it.

We've been to Egypt many times and have done various excursions. While browsing the Berliner Reisen website, we were looking for something new and came across the temples of Dendera & Abydos. We booked easily via WhatsApp. We were picked up from our hotel on time, as planned. Dendera was simply fantastic; our guide had such extensive knowledge and gave us a fantastic, informative day. And a delicious lunch. The day was fantastic, and Berliner Reisen, you are doubly fantastic. I 100% recommend the Dendera excursion.
