Itinerary: Cairo excursion 2 days with overnight stay

We'll pick you up from your hotel. You'll travel to Cairo in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. Upon arrival in Cairo, our first visit of the two-day Cairo tour will be the Step Pyramid of Saqqara. The Step Pyramid of Saqqara, built by the ancient Egyptian King Djoser of the 3rd Dynasty of the Old Kingdom around 2650 BC, is the oldest of the Egyptian pyramids. During his 19-year reign, Djoser had a monumental tomb built, the likes of which had never been seen before.

The step pyramid was built entirely of limestone. The burial chamber was constructed 28 meters below the ground and consists of precisely hewn rose granite blocks in four layers. Afterwards, we visit the Alabaster Sphinx and the colossal statue of Ramses II. The Alabaster Sphinx is located in the town of Memphis, about 24 kilometers south of Cairo. The Alabaster Sphinx dates back to the time of Amenhotep II and is 8 meters long.

The colossal statue of Ramses II is a limestone statue and still stands 10 meters tall today. Next, we'll head to a lovely local restaurant for lunch. After lunch, we'll drive to the famous Pyramids of Giza. The Pyramids of Giza were built between 2620 and 2500 BC. The pyramid field of Giza has been an important burial site since the 1st Dynasty.

The Pyramids of Giza are among the most famous and oldest surviving structures of humankind. They stand on the western edge of the Nile Valley. The largest and probably most famous pyramid is that of Pharaoh Cheops. He reigned from approximately 2620 to 2580 BC. The Pyramid was built from approximately three million stone blocks. The middle pyramid is that of Pharaoh Chephren, who reigned from approximately 2558 to 2532 BC. The smallest of the three pyramids at Giza is that of Pharaoh Menkaure, who reigned from approximately 2532 to 2503 BC. Enjoy a fantastic view of Cairo from the plateau. Our next stop is a visit to the nearby Sphinx.

The Sphinx has risen from the sands of the Egyptian desert for more than four millennia, having been covered by sand except for its head for most of that time, which contributed to its preservation. The nose and goatee have broken off. The Sphinx depicts a reclining lion with a human head and was probably built during the 4th Dynasty around 2520 to 2494 BC. The Sphinx was carved from the remains of a limestone hill that served as a quarry for the Great Pyramid of Cheops. Remnants of paint on the Sphinx's ear suggest that the figure was originally painted. Thutmose IV erected the so-called Dream Stele between the Sphinx's paws. The inscription on this stele tells of his life and his appointment as pharaoh.

After these impressive impressions, we'll drive you to your hotel where you'll have time to relax. Before dinner, you'll have the opportunity to admire the sound and light show at the pyramids.

Good night……..

After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the Old City of Cairo. Here you will admire:

  • The Islamic Open-Air Museum

On a walk with Ihram Egyptologist you will marvel at the oldest mosques, Quran schools and water sources then you will come across the Khan el Khalili Bazaar.

Khan el-Khalili Bazaar is a bazaar in the old city of Cairo, where you will find numerous coffee houses and shops as well as traditional handicraft workshops.

The Coptic Quarter:

Also called MASR AL KADIMA, it is home to the Babylon Fortress, a Jewish synagogue of Bin Ezraa and several beautiful churches such as Al Mualakaa Church (The Hanging Church), St. George Church, Abu Serga and St. Barbara Churches.

Before we visit the Egyptian Museum in Cairo we take a lunch break and enjoy a delicious lunch.

The Egyptian Museum in Cairo is the world's largest museum of ancient Egyptian art and culture. It is located in downtown Cairo at Al-Tahir Square. Construction began in 1900 and opened in 1902. With more than 150,000 artifacts, it now houses the largest collection of ancient Egyptian art and culture. The museum spans two floors with over 100 rooms. Here is a small list of the items on display in the museum: Gold mask of Pharaoh Psusennes I Items from various excavations Around 1,700 pieces from the tomb of Tutankhamun Artifacts from royal tombs Mummies and coffins Funeral furnishings Items from the tomb of Queen Hetepheres I, mother of Cheops Jewelry of Queen Ahhotep I

And, of course, much more interesting information. Many of the finds are virtually undamaged. Your experienced guide will be able to tell you many interesting and valuable facts about them. After visiting the Egyptian Museum, we will begin our journey back to El Quseir and, after this impressive and wonderful two-day trip to Cairo, we will return you to your hotel.
